Assistant Lecturer in Department of Media
Ball State University
We
are seeking a dynamic and talented individual to join our faculty in the
Department of Media. This position will teach in the field of visual effects
and virtual production and be housed in the Department of Media with
collaborative teaching responsibilities in the School of Art.
The
Assistant Lecturer will be a part of a department teaching in newly renovated
studio spaces and will be critical to our department and college XR initiative,
and teaching virtual production using LED technology.

Duties
and Responsibilities: Candidates will teach undergraduate visual effects and virtual
production courses, with the possibility of teaching in our graduate program.
The candidate must have good interpersonal communication skills and the
ability to work in a department that is cooperative and collegial. Qualified
candidates should also have an interest in teaching classes related to media
ethics and/or diversity, equity and inclusion. Teaching responsibilities may
include (but are not limited to) courses in Visual Effects, Digital
Composition, 3-D animation and Video Production for VFX/Virtual Production.
Minimum Qualifications: Minimum qualifications include a Master’s degree in Media,
Visual Effects, Animation or related field, or a Bachelors in a related field
with five to eight years industry experience. Proficiency in industry-standard
VFX software (e.g., UnReal Engine, Houdini or equivalent, compositing software
such as Nuke, After Effects or Fusion is required.
Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates who have a Ph.D. or
M.F.A. in Media Production, Visual Effects, Computer Graphics, Animation or a related
field and have at least one year of teaching experience at the college level.
Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the
U.S. without employer sponsorship.
