About iRacing.com Motorsports Simulations

iRacing.com – A tool for professionals and the next generation of motorsport

Overview
iRacing.com Motorsport Simulations, headquartered in Bedford, MA, was founded in September of 2004 by David Kaemmer, co-founder of Papyrus Racing Games, and John Henry, principal owner of the Boston Red Sox. iRacing.com’s mission is to create the world’s most authentic, most sophisticated, most accurate PC-based racing simulations and grow a new branch of motorsport through real-time, online competition – otherwise known as simracing.
Well suited to their mission, the iRacing.com staff, collectively, has more than 100 years of real-world racing experience and more than 50 years of successful auto racing simulation development (including such popular titles as NASCAR Racing 2003 and Grand Prix Legends).

iRacing.com’s simulations are not video games. Thanks to proprietary technology, the iRacing.com simulations include unprecedented accuracy of track replication and vehicle handling dynamics. With curbing, cracks, patches, and other trackside features recreated to within millimeter accuracy, and a physics engine and tire model that reproduce the feel of each particular car with absolute fidelity; the result is an experience so authentic that professional racers and experienced amateurs can hone their skills prior to on-track competition or testing.

Beyond training, however, these hyper-realistic simulations are the foundation upon which will be built a new kind of motorsport. Organized and sanctioned by iRacing.com, simracing will grow to mirror real-world racing in every way. Starting with an online Skip Barber Racing School, participants will acquire basic skills and a novice license. They will then be able to participate in testing as well as regularly scheduled, sanctioned events, including practice, qualifying and races. With four seasons per year, simracers will compete for points and championships, advancing up the motorsport ladder of their choice: open-wheel, sportscar or sedan road racing, stockcar or sprint car oval track racing.
Market Opportunity
iRacing.com’s primary audience is the motorsport market. With an estimated 451,0001 active participants in North America, a median household income of $98,5002 and well-established brand loyalty, racing is a valuable prospect pool. But iRacing.com’s reach extends well beyond the racing enthusiast and the confines of the North American continent.

As viewership for traditional, television-based entertainment continues to fragment and decline, the popularity of interactive, broadband-enabled entertainment is on the rise. Last year 1.4 million people spent $344 million for online gaming subscriptions3, and Massively Multi-Player Online Games (MMOGs) have attracted an estimated 25 – 30 million active participants4. Sports Sims will soon replace the traditional passive TV sports audience experience, redefining what “sports entertainment” is at its core.

Importantly, the PC-gamer profile more closely resembles the motorsport demographic than it does the commonly held stereotypes. The average gamer is 33 years old, 44% are between 18 and 49, and 69% of American heads of households play computer and video games5. Average household income is $71,4006.

Partnership Benefits
The benefits to partnership with iRacing.com are limitless: leveraging an existing investment in motorsport, strengthening bonds with existing motorsport audiences, broadening the reach of performance brands to new audiences via an interactive and engaging experience, demonstrating vehicle capabilities in a way more convenient to consumers, and, of course, expanding and enhancing a modern, tech-savvy, performance-oriented brand image.
