Position Description
The Bass School of Arts, Humanities, and Technology (BassSchool) at The University of Texas at Dallas invites applications for theposition of Assistant Professor of Practice (non-tenure track) in 2D Animation.The Bass School is a multidisciplinary academic research school withleading-edge programs in animation, games, visual and performing arts. We seekcandidates with a record of accomplishment in the animation industry to joinour faculty.
Preference will be given to candidates who have experiencein the animation industry with a focus in either design and/or story. A strongemphasis is placed on candidates who have expertise in a professional settingin one or more of the following: background design, storyboarding, characterdesign, story design, 2D animation. The ideal candidate will have experience infilm and/or television and be available to begin in January 2024.
Essential duties include teaching four courses in the fallsemester and four courses in the spring semester at the undergraduate level(with the possibility of graduate level courses), mentoring undergraduate andgraduate students, and contributing to public-facing programming.
The appointment commences in spring 2024.
Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience: Applicants must have atleast an associate’s degree in animation or a related academic discipline alongwith significant industry experience. Candidates are expected todemonstrate the ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative,engaging, and dynamic environment comprised of individuals with a range ofbackgrounds, skills, and perspectives. We are seeking candidates able to deliver highquality teaching using evidence-based practices to effectively engage students from a rangeof backgrounds and experiences.
Preferred Education and Experience: MFA or PhD in animationor a related academic discipline along with relevant industry experience (10years or more).

The Animation and Games Area at The Universityof Texas at Dallas is one of the top programs in the state of Texas.
