About the SchoolThe College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning (DAAP) at the arart(GAA) in the School of Art. The Games and Animation Program seeks applicationsfrom candidates with a wide range of expertise and experiences in Academiaand/or Industry focused on the field of Animation.

About the ProgramOfficially welcoming its first BFAcohort in Fall 2024, the Games and Animation (GAA) program is jointly housedbetween the College of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning (DAAP) and theCollege of Arts & Sciences (A&S) at UC. It combines the strengths ofDAAP's School of Art, with its long-standing program commitments to electronicart, new media, and game art, and A&S's School of Communication, Film &Media Studies. The joint program offers a studio-based, collaborative approachto creating games and animation, both digital and analog. Students learn bydoing, gain experience through cooperative education, and draw on theinterdisciplinary technical and creative toolsets required by these media. Thisunique program mimics a studio approach in animation and games productionstudios, using students through different cohorts to produce senior projects.In GAA, there is no artificial separation between theory and practice, betweenart and industry, between conception and production.
Essential Functions
· Teachundergraduate studio and seminar courses in Animation and related areasincluding introductory, advanced level, and topical courses such as: AnimationHistory, Animation Principles, and Professional Practices. The teaching loadfor this position is 8 (3-credit) courses per academic year.
· Expand courseofferings, bring a unique perspective to the Games and Animation Program, andpromote approaches that support interdisciplinary practices in their pedagogy.
· Provide serviceto various School, College, and/or University committees such as ProgramCurriculum Committee.
MinimumRequirementsPrior to effective date of theappointment, all of the following are required:
· Masters degree inAnimation or a related field.
· Candidates mustdemonstrate proficiency and engagement with the field of Animation as evidencedby a portfolio of 20 creative works.
· Two academicyears of teaching experience post-qualifying degree in an institution of highereducation.
