Job Title: Instructional Specialist,
12 Month Salaried - CG Generalist and Unreal Engine

FSU College of Motion Picture Arts, Tallahassee, FL
Position
Overview:
The FSU College of Motion Picture
Arts is seeking a versatile and experienced individual to join our faculty as a
Specialized Faculty member, focused on Unreal Engine and CG animation workflows
for linear narrative content. The ideal candidate will have a strong
understanding of the animation pipeline for both games and film, with a focus
on texturing and lighting. This position is ideal for a creative professional
with a passion for lighting and texturing, who understands both the technical
and artistic aspects of these processes within the animation pipeline. We seek
an individual eager to share their expertise with students aspiring to work in
film, game cinematics, and previsualization.
Key
Responsibilities:
- Teach undergraduate courses in
texturing, lighting, compositing, and color grading, focused on linear
narrative content, including game cinematics and film previsualization.
- Develop and deliver curriculum
on Unreal Engine for film, game cinematics, and previsualization,
emphasizing lighting and texturing.
- Guide students in hands-on
projects using real-time technology for previsualization and narrative
content creation.
- Stay current with emerging
technologies and integrate them into the curriculum to prepare students
for industry standards.
- Collaborate with colleagues on
program development, interdisciplinary projects, and initiatives to
enhance the use of real-time technology.
- Participate in college service
activities such as student showcases, industry events, and committee work.
Qualifications:
- Significant experience in
lighting and texturing workflows within Unreal Engine, creating visually
compelling content.
- Significant professional
experience with Unreal Engine, Perforce, digital asset creation, and
previsualization for film or game cinematics.
- Strong proficiency in using
Unreal Engine for real-time production, including lighting, texturing,
asset integration, and optimization.
- Experience teaching or training
others in Unreal Engine, previsualization, or other real-time workflows,
preferably at the college or university level.
- Solid understanding of visual
storytelling and its application in virtual environments and digital
media.
- Effective collaboration skills
with excellent communication abilities in both individual and group
settings.
- Terminal degree in a related
field, or equivalent professional experience demonstrating a high level of
expertise in Unreal Engine and digital production.
Preferred
Qualifications:
- Experience working in a
professional production environment utilizing Unreal Engine for film,
games, or immersive media.
- Familiarity with
industry-standard tools such as Maya, Nuke, Blender, or Houdini
- Experience with Substance
Painter and Substance Designer is preferred.
- Knowledge of traditional
production processes and how they integrate with real-time technologies.
- Experience developing
curriculum for online or hybrid learning environments.
- An active network within the
industry and involvement in professional organizations or conferences.
