GrapeCity's story started when our founders emigrated to Japan from the United States in the 1950s. They realized that there was a real need in the market for high quality English education for the children in Japan. Therefore, they established world-class elementary schools to teach English to the Japanese children.

ENTERPRISE SOFTWARE

In 1980, when the first personal computers were introduced to the world, we saw this as a great opportunity to streamline the schools' operations. The company's first product was LeySer Services for school management. Leyser has now evolved into a comprehensive solution that is used by the majority of the schools in Japan to manage everything from accounting to student admissions, resource planning, and more.

DEVELOPER TOOLS

With the growth of Microsoft Windows in the late eighties and early nineties, we realized that developers globally will need highly capable software building blocks, also knows as off-the-shelf software components. That is when the award-winning Developer Tools business was launched to meet this global opportunity.

To build these components, we needed international technology centers and development teams. Soon, these technology centers would seed our software services business via our Global Services business unit.

The Meysen schools are landmark destinations for a world-class, international faculty, innovative teaching methods, and on-going global educational research. Thanks to the new GrapeSEED English learning program that builds on this expertise, there are already over 40,000 students in more than 450 schools in 14 countries, benefiting from world class educational solutions.
