Makai Ocean Engineering, Inc. is a small business located on the Windward side of the Island of Oahu in Hawaii. Makai has three divisions - a pipeline engineering division which designs large ocean pipelines for Sea Water Air Conditioning (SWAC), Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC), and aquaculture; a cable software engineering division which develops software for military and commercial submarine fiber-optic cable planning and installation applications; and a new advanced visualization software division which is developing 3D/4D software for scientific, medical and military use. Makai was founded in 1973 and has since established itself as the world leader in the design of large ocean pipelines and the provider of submarine cable planning and installation software. Our cable software has become the industry standard in the submarine telecommunications field and we are continuing to improve our 3D cable model for applications in the military and submarine oil surveys. Our new 3D/4D software has attracted the attention of numerous state, federal and military agencies.
