Assistant Professor of Digital Communications
Description
The Digital Communications program, a growing interdisciplinary major that teaches communications and digital technologies in a liberal arts tradition, is searching to fill a tenure track assistant professor position with a designer comfortable teaching design as both applied and theoretical areas of study. The successful candidate will demonstrate a proven ability to teach students how to apply principles of design across traditional and emerging media (print, signage, packaging, web, mobile) and a working knowledge of user-centered design.
As a faculty member, you must be willing to work in an interdisciplinary program, whose core focus is on user-centered design and usability testing. You would teach four classes a semester, teaching theoretical and technical aspects of design, and guiding students in the creation of projects whose scope and audience extend beyond the campus, as well as develop courses in your area of specialization. You would also be required to maintain creative/scholarly activities, actively advise/mentor students, and fulfill other departmental service responsibilities.
