Create the technical strategy for a “serious game” (currently funded by the United Nations Population Fund) to be delivered across the web and on mobile platforms and guide a team of undergraduate student programmers. The main goal of the project is to apply game and emergent technologies to build awareness and generate social change around the problem of violence against women. Current needs in the position are for research and development of a technology strategy to deliver the game through mobile, and seek to establish partnerships with mobile software, hardware and solution providers for project funding and deployment. Candidates must be current in emergent programs and programming languages.

Additional and future needs are to take the technology lead for a cross-functional team composed of students, faculty and staff, oversee the growth of student programmer skills through mentoring, education, and direction. Be responsible for the analysis of the game concept in order to develop the logic and behavior of all game characters. Must be able to actively gather feedback from the entire game team and translate it into improved game play. Give feedback to various team members to adapt the game concept in-line with the capacity of the platform. Participate in detailed project scheduling meetings and establishment of milestones and deadlines. Work with students to implement strategy, diagnose and resolve problems to improve the various aspects of the game and its game play. The successful candidate will understand the technical requirements for upcoming titles.

This position is currently funded through December 31, 2009 with a possibility for full-time, regular employment.
