Technical Artist
Description
As the Technical Artist, you will report to the Production Art Director and work directly with the Animation, Character, Environment, VFX, Design, and Engineering teams to develop both temporary and long term pipeline solutions. You must be capable of thinking through challenging technical issues from conception to in game implementation. A Technical Artist has to tackle the most complex content creation problems and processes while balancing visual quality, efficient production, and technical limitation. This position is for a highly motivated person who loves the technical side of game development as well as the aesthetic and is willing to work with people in a very collaborative work environment to achieve the highest possible quality solutions.
Responsibilities:
• Work with programming, tools teams, and art leads to develop tools/ scripts/ plug-ins to streamline art production processes.
• Solving of technical production issues, especially those related to technical animation, shaders/materials, & VFX during pre-production and throughout production.
• R&D both new techniques and solutions to complex problems posed by game design and direction.
• Evaluate and initiate procedures and practices to optimize art production and workflow.
• Create and maintain technical art pipeline documentation.
• Develop new artist technologies and/or recommend emerging technologies.
• The clear and concise communication of technical concepts.
• Communicate production processes and procedures to the art team on a regular basis to ensure all team members adhere to agreed upon standards.
• Maintain and communicate a strong knowledge of innovative game production technologies and the capabilities/limitations of these technologies as they relate to the project goals.
• Report to Production Art Director.
