Digital Resource Manager
Description
The Digital Resource Manager is responsible for analyzing, identifying, documenting, recommending and implementing policies and best practices for monitoring and managing production resource needs (disk and processor). Also responsible for the efficient management of data in, through and out of, the digital pipeline.
• Analyzes production resource usage trends and anticipates upcoming requirements to ensure the most efficient use of digital resources. Initiates tactical plans to address those requirements and is responsible for implementing changes/adjustments/refinements as agreed upon.
• Proactively works with Production and Technology to build consensus, recommend, determine and ultimately implement/operationalize appropriate policies and procedures around digital resource management.
• Is accountable for documenting all new policies/decisions/changes/updates and progress for the project so as to create an historical record as well as a practical manual for ongoing process management for the function/role.
• Works with Production and Technology to ensure that the flow of data to and from external vendors is properly managed.
• Includes, packaging data for delivery to vendors and tracking receipt of delivery.
• Taking delivery of data from vendors - QCing content for completeness, entering data into production tracking systems, placing data on file systems, and making sure that data is backed up.
• Monitoring flow of data and suggesting improvements in processes and tools to improve quality of delivery/receipt of data.
• Works cooperatively with the Production and Technology teams to ensure show adopts and follows proper data management procedures.
• Proactively analyses data workflow to constantly look for and recommend areas to improve efficiency and responsiveness to production needs.
• Assist Production and Technology in meeting current resource management needs while planning and preparing a strong resource management framework and foundation to support planned future growth.
• Partners with Technology and Production to review data workflow and to define improvements in tools and technical process to allow more effective management, tracking, and forecasting of resources.
• Partners with overseas teams to ensure that resource management practices are consistent across facilities, and provides critical communication link between other US-based resource management teams and Singapore based teams.
• Provides up-to-date information and support for all CG data online. Moves CG data online, offline, and into external systems to meet Production needs.
• Performs other data maintenance, including tape backup and restore, as required.
• Prioritizes overnight renders. Coordinates processor allocations with Production.
• Prioritizes, manages, and maintains archive of show data, including creation of archival backups for shows, maintenance of archive database, storage and retrieval of physical media for recent show archives. Fulfills all data restoration requests, including archival research to locate requested data.
• As necessary trains, supervises and assigns and delegates work to IT/IS interns/junior employees.
• Monitors disk space and reports status to production and technology teams.
• Proactively manages processor load/requirements, reporting problems to production and technology teams.
• Troubleshoots and tracks down problems related to fileserver load, communicating with Production and Technology as necessary.
• Modify scripts where needed to make sure everything is working and appropriate improvements are developed.
• Serves as a liaison between CG staff and other disciplines.
