Visual FX Director
Description
The VFX Director is responsible for the design and creation of 2D & 3D effect systems, while working with the Designers to determine the nature of the visual effect required by the gameplay, and the Art Director to ensure their visual style matches the rest of the game.
Responsibilities include:
• Utilizing both commercial and proprietary software tools, oversee the creation of visually stunning 2D & 3D effects within Unreal Engine 3. Effects include Particle Systems, meshes, and Materials to simulate dynamics of explosions, smoke, fire, steam, fog, energy powers, and any physical phenomena.
• Examining game environments and gameplay objects to help determine what visual effects will benefit them
• Collaborating with art and design team to determine the nature of each visual effect, adhering to the requirements of gameplay, performance, and visual style.
• Developing schedules and time estimates for effects tasks, delegating work to assistant visual effect artists where appropriate.
• Performing research to acquire new knowledge necessary to perform assigned tasks.
