3D Animation Instructor

The School of Film and Animation (SoFA) is inviting applications for a faculty position in 3D computer animation.
We seek an active artist dedicated to the education of filmmakers/animators. The candidate should demonstrate substantial aptitude in the art of animation and Maya software. Courses will involve teaching undergraduate and graduate students the aesthetics and techniques of modeling, animation (including rigging), lighting and texturing. Additional experience in any of the following areas is desirable: acting for animation, cinema production, 2D animation and compositing, Mel/Python scripting or other programming languages. In addition to a full teaching load, responsibilities include career advising for students and continuing research, scholarship and creative activity. SoFA is currently re-visioning its 3D animation curriculum and we expect the new faculty to make significant contributions to this effort.

THE COLLEGE/ DEPARTMENT:
The College of Imaging Arts and Sciences offers programs in Art, Design, Crafts, Film and Animation, Photography and Print Media. The internationally recognized School of Film and Animation (SoFA) offers BFA and MFA degrees in film production with emphasis in either animation or live action and a BS degree in Motion Picture Science. SoFA provides a creative community where students have the opportunity to discover their unique talents and expressive potential while at the same time developing the skills needed to fulfill any creative or technical role in the film and animation industry. SoFA enrollment is typically at 275 undergraduates and 50 graduate students.
