Art Director

Description

Under the direction of the President, the Art Director oversees the daily operation of the art department, formulates long and short term plans in co-operation with the Art Production Manager, Project Manager and Producer to meet company milestones across multiple projects, and directs artists to produce artwork that is of the highest quality and on schedule. In addition the Art Director is responsible for developing style guides and workflow procedures, managing contracted resources, performing employee evaluations, assisting in the hiring of new artists, organizing department meetings and critique sessions, mentoring and teaching other artists, documenting art production processes, developing more efficient production methods, helping to troubleshoot and solve technical challenges, and advising on the development of proprietary software. The Art Director may also be called upon to create art assets required for the current project(s), collaborate with game designers to ensure that project vision is maintained and work closely with game designers, level designers and engineers to ensure that art assets are implemented as intended.
