Job Description and Responsibilities:
Located in Bellevue, Washington, ArenaNet is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Korea-based NCsoft Corporation. Currently, ArenaNet is busy developing Guild Wars 2 while continuing to support Guild Wars with additional content such as the upcoming Bonus Mission Pack, holiday events, community contests, monthly championships, and soon-to-be-released merchandise.

ArenaNet is looking for concept artists with a passion for games. Candidates will work with the studio Art Director and staff concept artists to create believable and visually compelling characters, creatures and environments for Guild Wars 2.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

* Produce a wide range of highly creative character, creature and environment concept art to fulfill the requirements of the game while working within the constraints of engine, game design, and schedule.
* Proactively seek feedback from the Art Director in style and mood.
* Communicate proactively with co-workers, including designers, programmers, and other game artists.
* Follow the schedules set by the Department Lead.

Qualifications:

* Highly creative, passionate, driven concept artist.
* Outstanding grasp of the human figure and animal anatomy with an exceptional ability to exaggerate as needed while maintaining realistic proportions and overall believability.
* Outstanding traditional illustration skills with a mastery of a variety of mediums.
* Excellent digital illustration skills with a mastery of Photoshop.
* Excellent fundamental illustration skills including; composition, perspective and color theory.
* Experience in illustrating a broad variety of styles and genres.
* Must be able to rapidly illustrate concepts based on verbal and written directives.
* Excellent visual storytelling skills.
* Must be able to produce large quantities of high caliber illustrations in a variety of formats, from prototype level thumbnails to finished color illustrations.
* Solid interpersonal and communications skills with the ability to cooperate on a team level.
* Self-managing — organized and uses time well. Dependably identifies and meets goals.
* Minimum 1-3 years of game industry/film experience is preferred.
