- Job Description and Responsibilities:
- The Camera Technical Director is responsible for maintaining the shot plan as established in Layout through the Animation and Lighting Lock processes.
Responsibilities:
*Fully understand the shot plan for every sequence in the film and the creative decisions behind camera choice, placement, and movement.
*Maintain constant communication with the layout supervisor on the status of all shots affected by changes in animation, especially those that are technically critical.
*Attend all animation reviews and sequence locks to communicate the shot plan as it pertains to potential camera changes due to final character animation.
*Adjust cameras as necessary for processes after Final Layout in a way that the sequence shot plan and technical integrity of the set are maintained.
*Communicate to the affected department leads and layout supervisors any camera changes that may bring about additional work. Suggest ways to achieve desired creative direction while minimizing scope increases.
*Perform camera work as needed per the layout supervisor.
- Requirements:
- *Demonstrated expertise in Camera and Layout techniques.
*Experience with and understanding of basic traditional camera techniques and camera rig concepts.
*Familiarity with scripting concepts (C-Shell, Perl, Render Man, MEL and/or similar).
*Familiarity with Unix/Linux operating systems.
*Strong communication skills are required.
*Experience working in a production environment preferred.
*Strong design and composition sense.
*Strong knowledge and understanding of film making.
*Knowledge of 3D software packages(Maya, XSI, etc).
*5+ years of high end production experience on feature films or commercial VFX.
