Character Rigger (3D Studio Max)

DESCRIPTION:
Image Metrics, one of the entertainment industry’s leading facial animation companies in the entertainment industry, has multiple openings for a Character Rigger based out of Santa Monica, CA. This role is a full -time position, overtime may be offered.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Develop tools and refine pipelines for facial animation production process.
* Create and maintain “animator-friendly” rigs.
* Proactively seek out inefficiencies and problems in existing processes as well as potential problems.
* Help track efficiency of asset pipeline and processes throughout the life of the project, improving and enhancing them where necessary.
* Troubleshoot asset pipelines and processes in use.
* Work with other disciplines to ensure the quality of the characters and animation for all aspects of the project.
* Create and maintain documents outlining animation needs, including in-game animation, motion capture shoots, and animation critiques.
* Check assets for technical integrity.
* Understand the technical needs of the client and help to develop rigs to achieve the best possible quality within the client's constraints
* Take ownership of the process of designing, developing, implementing, and supportting tools for the rigging and animation teams in both Maya and 3DS Max
* Design, develop and support rigging pipelines to adapt to new project types and project goals
*Debug and address quality issues in the rigs and the rigging tools
*Delegate and manage tasks to the rigging team
*Provide technical insight to the Production and Animation departments, breaking down complex issues into discrete action items
