Director - Traffic

Apple’s Marketing Communications / Graphic Design department is seeking a seasoned Traffic Director to manage its global Traffic and Image Traffic groups. Responsibilities include leading a staff of 15+ people and establishing processes and procedures to ensure the smooth Traffic management of all projects and media content globally.

The responsibilities of the Traffic team include developing internal workflow systems, assigning project resources, and managing the daily flow of all marketing campaigns. This includes, creating schedules, tracking project progress, routing work for review and approval, opening and closing projects, and training team members. Additionally, they participate in the quarterly planning of project resources.

The responsibilities of the Image Traffic team include facilitating the use of Apple and third-party content in all Apple marketing materials globally. This team is the central point in the company for all image and content requests. They develop and oversee image workflow, prepare shot lists and schedules, commission production, track version control, monitor content and usage rights, secure approvals from Business Affairs, and release files within and outside the company.


Skills and Experience

• Strong leader with successful history of managing large-scale Traffic and Traffic-related groups
• Ability to identify operational enhancements and institute workflow changes
• Knowledge of media usage rights issues and content management
• Experience in both digital and print media
• Ability to work in a fast pace environment that produces thousands of projects annually.
• Diplomacy and ability to negotiate effectively with multiple stakeholders
• Excellent verbal and written communication—both one-to-one and in small groups
• Command of project management tools, including server databases and desktop applications
• Flexibility in accommodating rapid change
• Experience with allocating staff for maximum benefit
• Calm and productive under pressure
• Skilled at working with creative teams

Responsibilities

• Manage a 15+ Traffic and Image Traffic team
• Work closely with other Marcom groups to identify new workflows and integrate procedural improvements for both the Corporate group and the international teams.
• Work with System Development team on the creation of workflow systems
• Host Studio-wide “Newsroom” meetings to determine priorities
• Supervise the maintenance and distribution of weekly "hot sheet" of priority projects
• Manage team’s creation of project job jackets, including briefs, schedules, reference material, specifications, and legal requirements
• Ensure group compliance for thorough routing of layouts, renderings, mechanicals, and proofs for internal review
• Coordinate use of image assets and messaging with multiple team members
• Supervise image and screenshot production requests
• Ensure proper tracking of image production and approval status
• Track team resource loads and forecast incremental staffing needs
• Provide leadership and direction to staff, supporting the alignment of individual goals with Marcom strategy
