Director, Product Marketing

Sony Computer Entertainment America Inc. (SCEA) markets the PlayStation® family of products and develops, publishes, markets, and distributes software for the PlayStation® Portable entertainment system, PlayStation®2 and PlayStation®3 computer entertainment systems, for the North American market.

Based in Foster City, California, Sony Computer Entertainment America Inc. serves as headquarters for all North American operations and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Sony Computer Entertainment Inc.

The Director, Product Marketing directs the marketing activities for all entertainment software / hardware and accessory products, and is responsible for supporting the daily activities within the department by following the written guidelines.

Primary Responsibilities:
1. Accountable for the marketing strategies for entertainment software, hardware and peripherals including: product positioning, packaging, advertising, product launches, retail communication, integrated PR and promotions, brand-building, brand extension licensing, forecasting and setting goals and objectives.
2. Works strategically with Product Development to achieve overall business and sales goals; provide design input on software to increase marketability; champions licensed software that will increase the equity in SCEA’s overall game library; and builds successful and mutually respectful relationships between the two departments.
3. Directs and manages agencies to develop pertinent strategic planning, creative campaigns and designs, and ensures service needs are met.
4. Creates and directs long- and short-term marketing strategies utilizing both new and traditional media. Evaluates SCEA’s media position, future potential and steers SCEA’s media strategies towards cost and target effective goals.
5. Develops and directs a budget based on sales projections, break-even analysis and brand goals. Provide VP with quarterly updates.
6. Directs teams of Sr. Product Managers, Product Managers, APMS and specialists to achieve business goals.
7. Works closely with managers, directors and VPs throughout the organization to ensure that marketing programs are well integrated into all aspects of operations, sales, product development, PR and Promotions.
8. Provides reporting teams with clear long- and short-term goals and objectives. Provides direct reports with career guidance, performance reviews and conducts hiring and firing of said reports.
