Systems Administrator

Description

The Louisiana Immersive Technologies Enterprise (LITE) seeks a Systems Administrator. The Systems Administrator is responsible for all aspects of systems administration for LITE such as servers, workstations, applications, networks, and databases. He/she will implement, configure, coordinate, and control specialized system procedures. This will also include maintenance, troubleshooting, security, usage monitoring and the development of the specialized system procedures. The Systems Administrator will have knowledge of Linux (specifically Gentoo, RHEL and SUSE), Irix, CISCO IOS, and Force10 FTOS. The Systems Administrator must have an in-depth, extensive knowledge of IP networks and routing. He or she will troubleshoot, diagnosis, and correct system problems.

Essential duties and responsibilities:
• Perform advanced systems administration functions including but not limited to creating custom Linux distributions, software administration (DNS, LDAP, Apache, clustering file systems, SMTP, etc), routing and networking.
• Pro-actively monitor and manage all systems resources at LITE.
• Pro-actively enhance systems performance for our HPC users and LITE staff.
• Maintain system documentation and logging of all systems.
• Manage and support LITE’s VPN and off-site users.
• Document network related policies and procedures including security.
• Keep current with new Information Technology security protocols and applicable laws and regulations.
• Research and develop hardware and software configuration and environments for LITE’s specialized needs.
• Maintain and enhance LITE’s core services in a way that is scalable, hierarchical and fault-tolerant.
• Advanced administration of CISCO and Force10 core switches, edge switches and network services.
• Maintain accurate records of hardware and software.
