Usability Researcher

FUN… F.U.N., but what is that… what makes something “fun”? How do you make something more fun, less fun, funner, funnest? (I know, I know – grammar is taking a back seat right now) But really – what makes a game fun? Well that is something that our Usability Researcher is going to help us perfect! This researcher will help establish and refine the usability research process here. This spot will conduct usability tests, surveys, and gather other research, and provide data to help in the design and development of games. This position identifies areas of a game that would benefit from user research, and conducts studies that provide accurate, timely and persuasive info to improve the ultimate end user experience (that would be the game!)

What this position will be doing:
• Develop and implement the User Researcher process at Insomniac Games.
• Conduct primary research studies (usability test & playtests) on all Insomniac products (games & website)
• Review design plans (specs, prototypes, etc.) and provide recommendations for testing.
• Conduct secondary research studies (data-mining) if/where applicable.
• Review designs & plans with an emphasis on the user-experience.
• Collaborate with production and design teams, to implement feedback gathered from usability testing and research.
• Work with outside user-research vendors as necessary
• Ability to remain self-motivated and objective while working in a highly collaborative team atmosphere.
