The Arts, Media and Engineering Program (AME) (http://ame.asu.edu), at the Fulton School of Engineering and the Herberger College of The Arts, at Arizona State University announces an opening for an Assistant Technical Faculty in Interactive Multimedia Computing.
AME is a nationally leading program for transdisciplinary research and education in media. The program has established digital media concentrations in the PhD and Masters degrees of ten different disciplines: Visual Art, Music, Dance, Theater and Film, Design, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Informatics, Bioengineering, Psychology, and Education. The program also offers a PhD in Media Arts and Sciences. Twelve AME faculty and thirty affiliated faculty from the participating departments work collaboratively with graduate students supported by research assistantships for the creation of innovative experiential media systems, models and applications. AME, a strategic initiative of ASU, has state of the art media facilities and diverse external support streams.
The successful candidate will participate in research and graduate education in experiential media systems working with the following AME research groups: Mediating Complex Systems for Sustainability, K-12 Embodied and Mediated Learning and Mixed Reality Rehabilitation. This position requires effective communication skills, the ability to work in dynamic interdisciplinary teams, and strong technical ability.
Job responsibilities include: Collaborating with faculty and student researchers in the development of experiential media systems with a desired focus on interactive visual media (e.g. interactive graphics, distributed/immersive displays) and/or interactive motion capture. Writing, debugging, documenting and maintaining software for experiential media systems. Participating in regular planning and work sessions for research groups. Interacting with test subjects, K-12 students and partner educators to deploy, evaluate and maintain media systems. Contributing to the dissemination of research results through participation in publications, presentations and demonstrations.
