Description
The Digital Media Program in the Department of Media Arts announces a full-time faculty position in 3D Modeling and Animation.
Responsibilities include teaching introductory to advanced studio and lecture courses, student advisement, pursuit of research and creative works, curriculum development, and service at collegiate and university levels. The successful candidate should hold a Master's degree in a related field, or have a demonstrated body of exceptional professional accomplishments. The candidate should demonstrate proficiency in a broad array of media topics and skills which include traditional drawing, 2D/3D animation, 3D modeling, digital compositing, current rendering technologies, digital media history and theory, digital video technologies, visual effects, and character animation. A strong aesthetic sense and thorough knowledge of composition is also required.
The Digital Media Program offers undergraduate and graduate courses leading to BS and MS degrees in Digital Media. The undergraduate program is selective, admitting 45 freshmen a year. Its students receive a broad education across the digital media field—including 3D modeling, animation, interactive design, traditional media, and computer gaming—and a general education in design arts, liberal arts, and sciences.
The Department of Media Arts is part of the Westphal College of Media, Arts + Design; which offers undergraduate degree programs in Architecture, Design & Merchandising, Digital Media, Fashion Design, Film & Video, Graphic Design, Interior Design, Music Industry, Photography, Entertainment & Arts Management, and Screenwriting & Playwriting, and masters programs in Arts Administration, Digital Media, Fashion Design, Interior Design. Full-time enrollment in the college is 1,800 undergraduate and over 200 graduate students. There are 80 full-time faculty members. Drexel is an urban university located in Philadelphia, with a total enrollment of 18,000 students in thirteen colleges and schools.
