The Madison Square Garden Company’s vision is to revolutionize entertainment through MSG Sphere – state-of-the-art venues that will pioneer the next generation of immersive experiences and create unforgettable moments. MSG Sphere will utilize a number of cutting-edge technologies to become the first venue to deliver large-scale, fully immersive experiences. Inside the venue, these technologies include: the largest and highest resolution LED screen on Earth; an advanced acoustics system featuring beamforming technology; an infrasound haptic system that uses vibrations so guests can “feel” the experience; and connectivity that will deliver 25 megabits per second for every guest. Together these technologies will create a powerful platform, making MSG Sphere the venue of choice for a wide variety of content -- including attractions, concerts, residencies, corporate events, product launches and select sporting events. MSG is building its first MSG Sphere venue in Las Vegas with the goal of completing the project during calendar year 2021. In addition to its iconic spherical shape, MSG Sphere in Las Vegas will feature a fully programmable LED exterior.
Role:
The Project Manager is responsible for leading and delivering technology projects of medium to high complexity with MSG Ventures. This position will work with colleagues to plan and execute projects of strategic importance to the organization. An emphasis on delivery, communication including but not limited to executives, internal and external stakeholders, and teamwork in a matrixed environment is required.
Specific Functions/Activities:
- Ensure development projects are completed on time, within budget and with value-added results.
- Oversee and prepare technology plans and budgets.
- Create, maintain and distribute project documentation, meeting minutes and deliverables.
- Proactively identify program level risks and communicate these to project teams and management.
- Effective and frequent communication to project sponsors, resources and management around project status, budget, scope and timeline.
- Use influence and insights to help the business achieve its goals and to make appropriate use of technology resources.
- Work with the Senior Director Product Management to develop and implement PMO processes and policies.
- When appropriate, work with other department leaders to define, prioritize, and develop projects and programs.
- Collaborate on the development of PMO professionals throughout the organization.
Qualifications:- Strong communication skills with a proven ability to understand key concepts and communicate effectively with technical staff, business stakeholders and senior management.
- 5-7 years’ experience as a project manager.
- Current Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.
- Demonstrated expertise in planning, budgeting and project management. Prior experience in another business function is a plus.
- Demonstrated experience in software development projects agile, waterfall and hybrid methodologies.
- Experience negotiating software contracts and professional services required.
- BA/BS in business, IT, business or equivalent practical experience; advanced education is a plus.
- Proven ability to build credibility and strong customer relationships as a trusted technology advisor who understands their business needs and can balance with organizational strategy.
- Ability to collaborate, build relationships and influence individuals at all levels in a matrix-management environment (as well as external vendors and service providers) to ensure that segregation and overlapping roles are identified and coordinated.
- Experience in the entertainment and production industry preferred.
- Seasoned professional able to work calmly under pressure and/or challenging conditions.
- Very strong communication management and the ability to work with and negotiate with executive stakeholders.
- Travel to New York HQ as necessary (5-10%).
