Role:

MSG is looking for a Lead Technician to join a groundbreaking post-production department based in Los Angeles. As the content delivery team for the MSG Sphere projects, we strive to create world-class content at an unprecedented scale for the largest LED screens ever made. 

The I/O Lead Technician is responsible for facilitating the smooth ingest, organization, QC, and final delivery of media that will arrive on a wide range of media and data drives. This role requires the receiving, logging, tracking, and QC of all footage and other media that leaves the LA office, or returns from other MSG locations and 3rd party vendors.  

In this role, the ideal candidate will be a technical resource as well as vault manager who is responsible for input and output to and from the Los Angeles MSG facility. The best candidate will have the opportunity to create an organized structure for vault processes and help build and improve the department workflow over time as this facility grows.  

Specific Functions/Activities:

  • Organize, track and catalogue the ingest of files and prepare deliverables via digital file transfer programs and physical hard drives with tight security requirements. 
  • Prep, track and deliver drives to and from tangential departments (VFX, color, audio) as well as 3rd party vendors to maintain quality assurance and high level of detail across all in-bound and out-bound activity. 
  • Oversee the archiving and unarchiving of studio data onsite and offsite. 
  • Update asset tracking software with relevant information pertaining to I/O activity. 
  • Plan and implement protocols and workflows to ensure preparedness for deliverables and audits. 

 

Qualifications:

  • College degree preferred or additional production certificate programs.  
  • Minimum of four years experience as a I/O technician, vault manager or data wrangler in high-end post production. 
  • Experience working with departments spread over multiple locations and interfacing with VFX, audio, color, and 3rd party vendors. 
  • Experience with asset and task tracking software such as Shotgun and FrameIO 
  • Working knowledge of post-production software such as Resolve, Avid, Premiere Pro, Fusion, and Nuke. 
  • Familiarity with post production processes including ingest, cataloging/archiving, editing, visual effects, motion graphics, audio, color, and QC. 
  • Experience with shared storage and asset management workflows and knowledge of security and encryption software and technology. 
  • Knowledge of various camera formats. 
  • Proven track record managing multiple fast-paced projects in a large organization. 
  • Excellent problem solving, attention to detail, and organizational skills. 
  • Must be a team player and work well under tight deadlines.
