Instructor or Lecturer of Technical Art
Description
The Florida Interactive Entertainment Academy (FIEA) at the University of Central Florida, College of Arts and Humanities seeks excellent candidates for an instructor or lecturer with an internal title of Technical Art Director.
The responsibilities of the Technical Art Director will be to teach 1-2 courses a semester for the FIEA graduate program. This person will work with FIEA faculty to develop technical curriculum geared toward artists with varying technical backgrounds. They will also mentor student driven games and animated short projects, potentially teaching at the undergraduate level. Ideal candidates will be skilled in Maya and Houdini, programming languages such as C++, Python, C#, MEL, etc. as well as a thorough understanding of industry game/film art and animation asset creation software and game engine technologies. Successful candidates will have professional experience in games, film development, animated shorts or cinematics as well as a strong background in lighting, shaders, and effects. This is a 9-month, non-tenure earning position with the potential of a 3-month summer contract.
Other responsibilities include holding office hours, conducting required academic performance assessments, development of instructional content and involvement with student recruiting locally and domestically at various events.
The anticipated start date is Spring 2016.
