Position: Senior AI Programmer
Location: Austin, TX

The only thing better than playing a killer video game is getting paid to play AND work at the company that creates them! Daybreak Game Company is now recruiting for a Sr. AI Programmer to work on a team of highly motivated and talented programmers, artists, and designers in Austin Texas.

This position will fill a senior and integral role in the design and implementation of AI game systems and features both in terms of individual character behavior as well as higher level logic to control the coordination of multiple game entities and game systems. This role will have primary responsibility for all AI systems used both server and client side, and will have a significant role in how we utilize, advance, and expand those systems in an upcoming, unannounced title, that will be developed in the Austin studio, as well as some support for DC Universe Online.


Responsibilities:
• Passion for writing solid, reliable, efficient code and highly scalable systems
• Design, create, optimize, and maintain cross-platform systems
• Ability to work efficiently and independently
• Work well under pressure and can handle multiple tasks

General Requirements:
• 5+ years of professional C++ experience
• Strong understanding of object oriented software engineering principles and methodologies
• Developed and shipped at least 1 game or consumer software product, or Live Team development experience on a successful MMO
• A passion for games
• B.S. in computer science or equivalent

Role Specific Requirements:
• Experience building AI systems to control multiple entities and games systems (e.g. the AI of a computer opponent in an real time strategy game)
• Experience with designing and implementing data driven character behavior AI systems
• Experience with path-finding implementations and approaches

Additional Desired Experience:
• Integration and use of Havok AI
• Networking and asynchronous programming techniques
• Hands on development of large scale, distributed processing systems
