Job Description
Animaticmedia is seeking a fulltime Lead 3D Generalist/ Technical Director to join our team in Fort Lauderdale FL to work on pre-production and production for a variety of exciting international, cinematic commercial jobs with leading ad agencies. Working with our 3D team, your experience will be essential in determining “the look” of all our 3D spots. Additionally, you’ll be assisting other production artists achieve the “look”. We are searching for an expert in Maya (lighting and rendering disciplines) as well as a creative problem solver with additional experience in modeling, animation, cloth simulations, rigging, particles, liquids, hair and fur.
You will work closely with the creative director and production managers to schedule project milestones, allocation of freelancers and in-house artists. The 3D Generalist must continually identify and develop Improvement of animation pipeline efficiencies. Will be responsible for creating 3D animated shots from start to finish. You must have outstanding written communication skills as well as with clients and other junior artists. We are ramping up our 3D department in Manila and the relay of clear and accurate communication is very important.
Primary Responsibilities:
Work with the Creative Director, Project Managers and client to define character and environment assets with an emphasis on storytelling.
Work on all facets of 3D pipeline on multiple projects with tight deadlines, includes modeling, texturing, animating, lighting, render management and compositing
Proficiency in animation, rigging, compositing and motion capture (Natural Point/Motive) is a plus.
The ideal candidate should be a generalist, able to jump from problems to solutions in short order.
Preferably famillar with Maya Human IK System but can also do Keyframe Animation when necessary
Knowledgeable with V-ray for Lighting and Rendering.
Work to meet deadlines within busy production schedules.
Willing to learn developing assets for our Crowd Simulation Software, Golaem for Maya.
Identify opportunities to share knowledge and educate others on production process
Setting up the pipeline and creating tools for artists to work on.
Managing and guiding other artists, both creatively and technically.
Review, interview and oversee other 3D artists work and generally building a 3D department.
Also oversee the 2D Editors department.
Be willing to learn new mediums/techonology (like VR and AR)
Knowledgeable in compositing different passes/render layers in After Effects and/or Photoshop
Experience in Simulation (Cloth, Particles, Liquids, Hair, Fur) is a plus.
Willing to learn different techniques (render styles/compositing) in production.
As a Lead Generalist role, candidates should be able to turn their hand to any aspect of the CG process. From Modeling through to Lighting and all the steps in between.
Candidate should have a Background in Film, Animation or Multimedia Arts to understand the whole process
Minimum of 2 years professional experience in game development, television or film industry using Maya.
Expert knowledge in Photoshop, After Effects, V-ray and Zbrush is preferred
Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills
Able to drive improvements in processes and pipeline
Able to work efficiently and drive productivity for yourself and the team in a challenging environment
Ability to present ideas and to communicate clearly with artistic and department leadership
Ability to work in a collaborative environment, taking as well as giving direction with tact
Attention to detail.
Ensures operation of equipment and; evaluating new equipment and techniques
Ability to learn quickly and assimilate new information.
