Description
The
SCAD advertising program covers the breadth of the discipline, from design and
copywriting to integrated brand marketing, strategic planning and more. This is
your chance to work with dedicated faculty and talented students within the
historic district of Savannah, Georgia, a walkable, bikeable coastal city that
provides a living laboratory for the study of art and design. Join SCAD
Savannah as chair of advertising.
Responsibilities:
- Provide day-to-day administration of the
academic departments
- Direct, coordinate and evaluate the advertising
department
- Develop curriculum
- Foster interdepartmental collaboration and
continue to enhance the reputation of the SCAD advertising department in
academic and professional circles
- Oversee departmental budget, including
development and implementation
- Work with the admission department to recruit
talented undergraduate and graduate students to SCAD and to the department
- Teach classes annually, as assigned
- Evaluate professors within the department
through class observations and review of student evaluations, service,
professional development and contributions to the department’s goals
- Work with the dean to provide professional
development opportunities for professors
- Develop, in consultation with the dean and
department members, a strategic plan for the department that is consistent with
School of Communication Arts’ goals and overall SCAD strategic plan.
Requirements:
- Terminal degree or its equivalent in advertising
or a related field
- Experience with advertising agencies or
in-house marketing groups
- Experience in diverse advertising issues, such
as creative strategy, concept development, creative execution and presentation
preferred
- Experience in issues in advertising production
such as file preparation, estimating, buying, creative execution and scheduling
preferred
- Experience in account planning, research,
creative strategy and brand management preferred
- Ability to work with students and faculty of
diverse backgrounds
- College-level teaching experience preferred
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite preferred
- Ability to motivate students and faculty to
think creatively and critically
- Ability to work with students and faculty of
diverse backgrounds
