Primary Job Description:
The Senior 3D Designer of
Branded Environments is responsible for leading the creation and implementation
of designs for Downstream projects related to the built environment. This designer
is directly responsible for the creation of 3D designs that consider the thematic
narratives and storyboards, choreography of spaces, circulation, space
planning, interior design, messaging, branding, way finding, fixture design,
technology integration, materials, and lighting. Designs must be communicated clearly through
the use of visuals. This designer will work with design leads, account leads project
management, writers/content strategists, A/V engineers, programmers and graphic
designers to ensure client satisfaction.
Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:
6+ years of experience working on
branded environments (retail, corporate and/or sports), exhibits, showrooms, and
specialty displays
Proficient in 3D modeling with Sketchup(required),
3DS, VectorWorks or CAD
Proven ability to visualize 3D concepts
with high quality lighting effects using Maxwell, Podium or other rendering
software in combination with Adobe applications
Proven experience working with major
brands weaving in layers of technology and graphic systems
Experience working with story overlays
related to interior architecture projects
Experience working with interior
architects
Experience documenting
construction/fabrication details
Must be able to visualize and
document branded design concepts
Must be able to clearly communicate
concepts to internal design teams
Will research and design concepts that
continue to push the creative team in its pursuit of new ideas
Will work with key production leads and
design leads, including the postproduction manager, project managers and
producers, and interactive/motion and graphics teams to ensure the design
vision is executed in a consistent and quality manner
Be aware of budgets and schedules for
projects at all phases of development
Thematic and concept design for
graphics, environments, and media
Other Duties:
Explore new design solutions and
generate concepts and new ways of visualizing ideas
Look for innovative concepts related to
building brand messaging in the built environment
Recruit future design talent, and
become involved in the local and national design communities
Short- and Mid-Term Goals:
This position would play
a key role in helping Downstream advance short-term and mid-term business
goals, including:
Creating designs that support a
world-class design team
Realizing design concepts and building
long-term client success
Establishing efficiencies in executing
design concepts – such as design details, application proficiency (SketchUp),
file management, external design resource management
Supervisor Responsibilities
The Downstream leadership team will work with you to
establish personal goals on an annual basis. These goals are created in
cooperation with you to build clear expectations for future growth and
development.
