Nitrogen Studios is a Vancouver
based animation studio looking for a Shader Writer to help us embark on an exciting
new CGI animated theatrical feature film, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg's
"Sausage Party".
Position
Overview:
The position of Shader Writer requires
a thorough knowledge of RenderMan, ideally with several years of experience in
a similar role. The Shader writer works with the Surfacing, Look Dev and
Lighting Departments to help create and maintain an effective and efficient
library of shaders for production. The ideal candidate must have the technical
abilities required to write complex shaders and the artistic ability to understand
and anticipate artist needs.
Duties
& Responsibilities:
- Work with the
Surfacing, Look Dev and Lighting departments to design and write RenderMan
shaders to create desired looks for feature animation.
- Participate as a
team member in determining solutions for technical and artistic shading
challenges including troubleshooting shader and rendering issues.
- Provide shader
support to the Lighting department during shot production.
Skills
&Requirements:
- Ideally 2+ years
proven experience in a feature Animation production pipeline.
- Should be fluent
with RSL and have experience with physically-based rendering.
- Familiarity with
Maya and Windows considered an
important asset.
- Strong Look Dev
and Lighting skills both artistically and technically.
- Strong
problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Team oriented with
a proactive and positive attitude and good organization and communication
skills.
- BC residents preferred, but not required
