The core of graphic design at SCAD
is design thinking. This fundamentally creative process – thinking by doing – encourages
students to see differently, shift focus, look from multiple perspectives and
realize how perception influences meaning. Join SCAD Atlanta as a part-time professor
of graphic design with a user-experience/interactive focus.
SCAD has a large, vibrant graphic
design department aligned with leading trends in emerging media. The position
offers numerous opportunities to collaborate with other SCAD
departments that are at the forefront of diverse fields.
Candidates will be asked to articulate their vision of a
graphic design education in the 21st century that will produce designers with
research abilities, social responsibilities and pragmatic skill sets who are
able to deliver content over any type of system. This is your chance to work
with talented students in a thriving metropolis that is home to Fortune 500
companies, nonprofit organizations, design firms, fine art galleries and more.
Requirements:
- Terminal degree or its equivalent in graphic design or a related field
- Demonstrated knowledge of user-experience, usability, interface design (both
theory and practice), technologies, platforms and delivery systems as they
relate to current practices in graphic and communication design
- Expertise in user-experience design preferred
- Expertise in the Macintosh platform using the following programs:
Dreamweaver, Premier, ImageReady, After Effects, Wordpress, HTML, CSS,
Javascript, InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop
- Comfort teaching in cross-disciplinary teams focused on
experiential projects
- Professional experience as a working graphic designer at a variety of levels
- University-level teaching experience preferred
