Description
This position is a full-time, nine-month, non-tenure
track faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor in-Residence.
The position will have a creative focus on 3D Animation
and Visualization for the Digital Arts, Film, Television, Digital Game Design,
and Scientific and Technical visualization to start 8/22/2015, renewable on an
annual basis. The selected candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate
level classes, as well as, support faculty collaborations through the Digital
Media Center centered on animation and visualization for purposes of
entertainment, marketing, scientific research and visualizations.
The successful candidate will be expected to contribute
to research and scholarship through extramural funding, high quality
publications, impact as measured through citations, performances and exhibits,
national recognition as through honorific awards. In the area of teaching,
successful candidate will share a deep commitment to effective instruction at
the undergraduate and graduate levels, development of innovative courses and
mentoring of students in research, outreach and professional development.
Successful candidates will also be expected to broaden participation among
members of under-represented groups; demonstrate through their research,
teaching, and/or public engagement the richness of diversity in the learning
experience; integrate multicultural experiences into instructional methods and
research tools; leadership in developing pedagogical techniques designed to
meet the needs of diverse learning styles and intellectual interests.
Minimum
Qualifications
·
BFA, BA or BS in Art, Animation, 3D Modeling Digital
Media or other appropriate fields. Equivalent foreign degrees are acceptable;
·
Professional experience in 3D digital modeling,
lighting, textures, rigging, camera movement and compositing (used in
production);
·
Demonstrated and current expertise in: Photoshop,
Illustrator, Adobe AfterEffects, Adobe Premiere Pro, Maya, Cinema 4D;
familiarity with Nuke and/or ZBrush 4R7 a plus;
·
Digital portfolio demonstrating ideation,
design, final project implementation;
·
Evidence of engagement in institutional and/or
professional service.
Preferred
Qualifications
·
MA or MFA in Art, Animation, Design, Film/Video
production, Digital Media or other appropriate fields;
·
A record of distinguished teaching and mentoring
at the undergraduate and/or graduate level;
·
Demonstrated professional/commercial experience
working with film and/or video productions; advertising or marketing agencies;
entertainment companies; video gaming companies; and/or technical visualization
agencies;
·
A digital portfolio demonstrating extensive
professional Digital 3D Modeling/Animation/Visualization, Motion Graphics, 2D
animation experience in any or all of the following areas: film and/or video production, video game
development and production, web design, ePublishing, advertising/marketing
production, scientific and/or technical visualization, and/or creative making;
·
The ability to contribute through research,
teaching, and/or public engagement to the diversity and excellence of the
learning experience.
