For its Audio-Visual Application Design (AVAD) M.A. program, Film University Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF invites applications for an artistic / scientific part-time professorship (W3 pay grade) in the field of "Audio and Interactive Media Technologies /
Directing Audio Processing".
Duration of Employment:
The duration of employment (part-time) is limited to 3 years. Employment requirements are based on Section 43 of the Brandenburg Higher Education Act (BbgHG). In case the budgetary situation and the university's plans for development allow for it, further employment for a limited period of time or unlimited employment might be granted without repeated invitation for applications.
Tasks:
For its new Audio-Visual Application Design (AVAD) M.A. program, which is currently being
established, Film University Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF is looking for a candidate
who is able to create strong ties between theory and practice in teaching
"Audio and Interactive Media Technologies / Directing Audio
Processing".
Applicants should have extensive experience with audio signal processing (particularly in
the field of moving images), synthesis technologies, the use of metadata for
audio signal and audiovisual scene description, and the use of interactive
media applications. Outstanding technological / scientific and artistic
achievements in the field of media information technology as well as academic
teaching experience are a prerequisite. Besides, applicants are expected to
have profound practical experience with industry-specific workflows, the latest
media (post-) production tools, and – in particular – their use throughout the
creative process. Due to the international orientation of the AVAD M.A.
program, most of the teaching is done in English. The program enhances the
interdisciplinary collaboration with the university's established degree
programs.
Aside from teaching, tasks include the continuous supervision of student projects,
artistic graduation projects of M.A. students, and M.A. theses. Further tasks
include the involvement in the continuous restructuring of the university's
degree programs, the development and implementation of personal artistic
research projects, and the participation in academic selfgovernance.
Required Qualifications:
Legal employment requirements are based on Section 41 (1) to (3) of the Brandenburg
Higher Education Act (BbgHG). Moreover, employment requirements include the
following:
- Proof of outstanding project work with a focus on technology / science
- Academic / university teaching experience
- Excellent connections to the media industry
- Communication, coordination, and organization skills
- Excellent English skills
- At least 5 years of professional experience
- Proof of academic publications or comparable documentations
Expertise:
- Experience with interdisciplinary media research
- HW Description Language
- Software design / architecture
- Interfaces: GUI design, API design, HWI design
- Analysis and synthesis of audio signals, interactive audio, algorithms
- Physical modeling, simulation procedures, spatial and binaural synthesis
- Teaching of
the practical use of current production and pipeline tools in the fields of
audio and interactive content, IP connections, and interactive controls
Teaching Load:
According to the Teaching Load Regulations of the State of Brandenburg as well as the
study and examination regulations of the university's
Audio-Visual Application
Design (AVAD) M.A. program, the teaching load is 6 teaching hours.
