SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Mocap Technician/Animator works closely with
the Lead Animator and animation teams in the capture, cleanup, and processing
of high quality 3d motion capture data for both real time in a game animation
and pre-rendered cinematics. Mocap Technician/Animator
is responsible for setting up and maintaining the motion capture studio before,
after, and during shoots. Mocap Technician/Animator will run the capture
station during shoots and be responsible for high quality marker tracking and
motion capture. Additionally, the Mocap Technician/Animator will provide direction/feedback/assistance to
the actors on set when necessary. The Mocap Technician/Animator will be
responsible for cleaning up the marker data and processing it through a
proprietary pipeline in preparation for the animation team. Candidate will be
responsible for preparation, review and intake of data from outsourcing
vendors. Mocap Tech Works with the animation team in
developing, refining and optimizing the motion capture process and pipelines
within the studio. When
not occupied by mocap duties, this person will assist the animation team by
creating high quality animations for in game use.
This is a temporary, 9 month position.
JOB QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:
Work Experience
· 2+
years of industry art, animation or motion capture experience preferred.
Education, Professional Training, Technical Training or
Certification
· Minimum of 2-year 2D/3D art degree with
an emphasis in character keyframe animation or equivalent work experience.
Knowledge/Skills
· Experience
in Cortex, Motive, Blade or other equivalent Motion Capture software package
desirable.
· Experience
in motion capture shoot pipeline.
. Skilled
in one or more types of 3D animation software (Maya & Motion Builder
preferred).
· Strong
understanding of Animation fundamentals, theories and techniques.
· Ability
to create high quality 3d animations.
· Solid
understanding of game development process and limitations.
· Experience
in biped character animation pipelines and character setup.
· Knowledge
of current animation techniques and development processes.
· Body
and facial rigging skill and an understanding of MEL/Maxscript
desirable.
· Excellent communication, interpersonal,
and organizational skills.
· Ability to work cross departmentally
and effectively communicate to support systems/feature development.
· Ability to work with external vendors
to ensure quality and continuity in animation related services.
· Ability
to work well under pressure and deadlines with minimal supervision.
· A
positive attitude and a desire to bring new ideas to the team.
· Passion
for making and playing great games, with an awareness of current titles and
industry trends.
