Description
The
Pipeline Technical Director (TD) works with colleagues and supervisors to
provide critical production support, improve overall pipeline efficiency, and
advance the capabilities of the studio. The Pipeline TD will design, develop,
and implement new 2D/3D software tools, techniques and processes for use in
third-party and in-house systems, and across multiple projects and
departments. The position requires strong technical and communication skills,
a good understanding of CG production methodologies, workflows, trends and
best-practices, as well as proficiency in software and UI design.

Work
closely with the Application Development, Studio and IT teams to design and
create tools to maintain and further the production pipeline; tools will be
created using both custom and third party Python, C++, JavaScript, MEL and Tcl
APIs, including those applicable to Nuke, Maya, Photoshop and various in-house
tools

Work
with department representatives to develop tools, techniques and workflows
required to achieve specific project goals; integrate these solutions into the
wider pipeline, where possible

Work
with artists to troubleshoot and fix critical production issues, which may
include problems with models, rigs, effects, animation, rendering and
compositing
·
Research
and advocate in the adoption of innovative new techniques, commercial or
open-source tools and libraries, standards, and best-practices to help
maintain industry relevance and the highest possible quality and efficiency

Contribute
to and maintain pipeline documentation, examples and training materials,
conducting and recording live training where needed
·
Support
in creation and deployment of artist-created tools and their adoption into the
wider pipeline; verifying quality, stability, and adherence to Application
Development and Studio practices and guidelines
