SUMMARY
OF THE ROLE:
The Modelling Supervisor’s primary function is to supervise the
Modelling department. The position is a senior role for the studio and requires
someone with several years’ experience in a supervisory capacity working on
broadcast or film projects. The successful applicant will have strong team leadership
abilities, excellent communication skills and have the ability to work collaboratively on multiple tasks in a fast paced environment. They will have a
well-developed artistic 'eye' and have extensive knowledge of modelling
workflows and pipeline.
Key Areas of
responsibilities:
·
Supervise the Modelling Department and ensure the modelling workflow and pipeline is
implemented by the team with a primary focus on maximising efficiency while
also meeting the required ‘Look’ for the projects.

Identify
and outline bottlenecks and deficiencies in
modelling workflows, technical or otherwise to the Head of CG and Pipeline
team. Propose and Implement solutions.

Define, document and communicate standards and
techniques for modelling that ensures a consistent quality under the technical
specifications of the project.

Provide
leadership and support for the Modelling Team,
both creatively and technically, and ensure they
partner effectively with Production Management and they deliver on their goals.

Promote and Facilitate effective communication on asset
production between Art directors, Production management and the dependant CG departments.
·
Partner with Head of CG and Pipeline team to determine
appropriate use of applications as they apply to Modelling in the studio,
either in development or as they are phased into the productions.

Advise on the set-up of large scale environments
from a modelling perspective.
·
Supervise the quality control (both technically
and visually) of the external asset assignments and ensure the outsource
partners have clear direction from the Modelling Leads.
Requirements
·
Must have at least 3 years’ experience working as a Modeller (or
similar position) in a lead or supervisory capacity, in either T.V. broadcast
or feature film work.

Full understanding of technical character modelling to aid rigging
(Good topology, Edgeflow and anatomical proportions)
·
Must have a thorough understanding of creating efficient Locations
and sets for a pipeline.
·
Must have an excellent working knowledge of Maya.
·
Must have working knowledge of Z-brush or Mudbox.
·
Must be comfortable with outsource management with an emphasis on
clear communication and follow through.
·
Experience with shotgun (or asset tracking systems) is considered
a plus but not a requirement.
