Warner Bros Games Inc seeks an Art Lead, VFX for the Warner Bros Games Monolith Art department. A Lead FX Artist is responsible for leading a team of FX artists in the creation and implementation of compelling game assets of the highest quality. This person will work closely with the Art Director and Technical Art Director to help define aesthetic goals and pipelines, and to maintain the highest artistic standards and proper technical requirements for FX production. This person is also responsible for creating exceptional FX assets while providing art direction, feedback and mentorship to the FX artists and ensuring that production goals are met.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES- Create FX assets as required to set a quality bar for other artists to follow.
- Help design, construct, document and enforce pipeline procedures to deliver competitive, cutting edge assets.
- Coordinate and update production assignments for the FX art team.
- Create, document and communicate guidelines, directories and procedures.
- Motivate, mentor and inspire FX team, guiding them through various stages of production with clear direction.
- Regularly review FX assets.
- Assists TAD in R&D efforts for tools enhancements and prototyping of new technology.
- Accountable for FX team deliverables, ensuring that they meet the defined objectives, and scheduled requirements.
JOB REQUIREMENTS- At Least a 2-year 2D/3D art degree or equivalent. BFA is preferred.
- 6+ years of game development art experience with 1+ years as an Art Lead.
- At least 2 published games preferably as Lead Artist.
- Proven excellence in artistic judgment and skill.
- Proven ability to effectively communicate verbally as well as visually
- Must have worked with a real-time 3d engine.
- Expert knowledge of Photoshop, After Effects, Premier and other 2D packages.
- Expert knowledge of one or more types of 3D software (Maya, 3DS Max is preferred).
- Good understanding of MEL, Python or Maxscript required.
- Effective management and motivation of team members.
- Strong understanding of game and FX development process and limitations.
- Solid experience and understanding of art pipelines.
- Strong understanding of modern real-time 3d engines.
- Up to date knowledge of current FX techniques and processes.
- Able to work collaboratively in a team environment, both taking and giving direction.
- Able to work well under pressure and deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Able to provide training and mentoring to FX artists.
- High capacity to learn new tools and research potential new technology.
- Diligence with individual and team tasks, schedule and adherence to budget limitations.
- Solid organization skills with adherence to optimization and asset management.
- Positive attitude and a desire to bring new ideas to the team.
- Traditional art skills and creativity a must.
- Passion for making and playing great games, with an awareness of current titles and industry trends.
- Portfolio/website demonstrating your art skills, design sensibilities, and attention to detail.
