Paramount Animation, through its affiliate Animated Productions Inc., currently has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Art Director (Union) to join the animation team at our Hollywood, CA studio.

About:

The Assistant Art Director is responsible for supporting the Art Director with concept and set designs. He/she will also work closely with the Digital Producer, VFX Supervisor, and Production Supervisor, to adhere to the Production Schedule, ensuring the team meets key milestones and deadlines for Art packets.  He/she will also attend Model Review, and follow up with draw-overs as needed. The Assistant Art Director will communicate with and guide all artists on completing model and character packet needs.

Responsibilities Include:

• Assist Art Director with concept and set designs
• Proactively communicating with the Art Director, Production Supervisors and/or other departments to anticipate and tackle potential problems as a team, identifying schedule overruns where necessary
• Attend Model Review, Follow-up with draw-overs as needed
• Work closely with Digital Producer and VFX Supervisor to ensure complete model packets are sent out
• Guide all artists on completing model and character packet needs
• Interpret and incorporate feedback from the Art Director in a timely and qualitatively acceptable way
• Work with the Production Supervisor to adhere to the production schedule, ensuring the team meets key milestones and deadlines for packets sent out
• Sharing information, methodologies and ideas with others, providing guidance/mentorship to the design team

Qualifications Include:

• 4+ years of experience working as an Assistant Art Director and/or Lead, with prior experience on a CG animated feature
• Bachelor degree in Arts/Animation, or equivalent work experience is required
• Comprehension and knowledge of animation and its various platforms
• Strong drawing, illustration and painting skills with working knowledge of anatomy, proportion, perspective and composition
• High degree of proficiency in Photoshop
• Able to communicate ideas clearly and concisely, to anticipate hurdles and problem-solve
• Well organized and efficient, able to juggle shifting priorities and meet performance objectives within a fast-paced production environment
• Able to receive direction, and work collaboratively with a positive attitude
