The
Department:
To meet the needs of an expanding academic vision and a growing student
body, Ringling College is seeking qualified candidates for a full-time faculty
position in Motion Design (MD) specializing in Concept Development and Design
for the broadcast/commercial industry. The department has a supportive,
collegial faculty and flexible curriculum that strongly values excellence. The
MD department has robust support dedicated to using the most current
technology.
Included among the Duties and Responsibilities of this
position are: Ability to teach Concept Development, Design, and additional
related subjects with hands on knowledge and experience, from a menu of
beginning through advanced MD courses within a structure of three courses or
nine credits per semester. Ongoing commitment to creative work/research in the
profession is expected. Active
participation with faculty, department, and college service is required. The salary will be commensurate with the
candidate’s qualifications and experience.
(Minimum Qualifications)
- Master’s
degree in motion design, broadcast design, animation or related field,
with an outstanding record of professional creative achievement OR a
master's degree with a concentration in the teaching discipline (a minimum
of 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline) OR a 4-year
professional degree in art or design, sufficient experience, training and
expertise with an appropriate record of professional achievement in the
field
- Demonstrated experience in motion design for the
broadcast and/or commercial industry, as well as skill with new digital
technology relevant to the area
- Experience
with the creation of style frames, storyboards for use in broadcast,
commercial or other motion design related venues
- Strong
graphic design and typography skills, with knowledge of image creation
tools such as Adobe products
- Experience
with the development of branding and marketing campaigns for the motion
design industry
- An
ability to successfully translate branding and marketing objectives across
media, including print design, video, and web
- An
ability to clearly communicate and work effectively in a collaborative
educational environment with faculty, students and administrators.
(Preferred
Qualifications)
- An
MFA or other terminal degree in the field
- Successful
college level teaching
- Proficiency
with image creation software, Photoshop, Illustrator
- Proficiency
with 2D animation software, After Effects, Flash, Dreamweaver
- Proficiency
with 3D animation software, Maya, Cinema 4D
- Proficiency
with digital photography and lighting
- Knowledge
of scripting/programming for animation and web
- Proficiency
in creating storyboards and animatics
- Significant
professional/creative practice and work experience
- Proficiency
in new digital technology relevant to the area
- Awareness
of both current and evolving issues facing the field and strategies to
best address them.
