Director, Technology
Description
This position will lead the technical efforts for all animated films and will work closely with Paramount Pictures IT to help integrate and grow the Paramount Animation division.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Oversee capital spending across all animated films.
- Track and deploy all hard assets across films.
- Help negotiate and secure deals for hardware and software.
- Work across all animated films to establish technical uniformity; including workstation configurations, data and asset management, tracking and backup systems.
- Perform technical due diligence at vendor studios – assessing pipeline as well as infrastructure.
- Research, implement and support remote collaboration systems and tools across all animated films.
- Work with vendor studios to find common ground on remote tools and other collaborative technology.
- Help lead the technical aspects of office space build out(s).
- Research, implement and support pre-production tools in the areas of storyboarding, art/design and editorial integration.
- Work with vendor studios to integrate pre-production and CG production at critical touch-points (i.e. Story to Editorial to Layout).
- Stay active in the animation technology community and continuously look for new and productive tools and solutions.
- Look for opportunities to leverage company resources and technical know-how to improve and scale the Paramount animation business.
- Develop and give high-level presentations to senior executives at Paramount on animation workflows and production technologies.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Management Information Systems with a strong focus on application development life cycles and processes
Desired Skills:- Thorough understanding of the application development life cycle including requirements gathering, analysis and design, development, and implementation
- Thorough working knowledge of leading edge hardware, application, database and network platforms, architectures and concepts
- Experience with various systems and business processes across the entertainment industry
- Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal and leadership skills
- Ability to manage large scale and multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to set and meet project deadlines and budgets and report status to senior management
- Commitment to maintain a high degree of customer satisfaction through investigation, analysis, instruction, implementation, and relationship building in a timely and proactive manner
- Understanding of Sarbanes Oxley principles and practices
- Demonstrated willingness to support team on all levels to get the job done
- Strong presentation skills and ability to interface with individuals at all levels of the organization
- Team player advocating and exemplifying a cooperative approach to solving problems
- Strong work ethic with sense of urgency and clear accountability
