The Art Department at California State University, Fullerton is seeking a full-time,
tenure track Assistant or Associate Professor of Glass, as part of the Sculpture/3-Dimensional
Media areas, beginning in the fall of 2015.
Position
The candidate will be qualified to teach BFA, MA and MFA level courses that explore the
medium of glass in relationship to traditional and emerging processes and technology. Courses
range from foundations to graduate level glass casting, glass forming, hot and cold
methods, and flat glass. The successful candidate will oversee student advising; mentoring
of graduate students and thesis; serve on departmental, college, outreach, and university
committees.
Required Qualifications
- MFA degree from an accredited institution with an emphasis in Glass, or equivalent.
- Excellent technical skills with in-depth knowledge of teaching various aspects of
glass, which include glass casting, glass forming, both hot and cold methods, and
flat glass.
- A strong commitment to teaching and a willingness to actively develop programs and
curricula to maintain the glass program’s presence at a national level.
- An understanding of and familiarity with the safe operation and maintenance of a fully
equipped glass facility.
- Experience as a practicing artist with an established reputation and a significant
record of creative and/or scholarly achievement.
- The ability to work with a wide range of culturally diverse students, faculty, and
staff.
- Preference will be given to candidates who philosophically encourage the importance
of concept as applied to the medium of glass, and who have the ability to encourage
critical thinking and problem solving.
Desired Qualifications
- College level teaching experience beyond graduate school is desired.
- Additional capabilities within the field of sculpture are also desired. These might
include, but are not limited to, teaching metal casting/foundry, metals and welding,
woodworking, plastics and /or mixed media.
- Digital capabilities within glass and sculpture disciplines are also desired.
Rank and Salary
This is a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. Salary
is competitive and commensurate to rank, experience, and qualifications. Periodic

The Department
The Department is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design
to offer the BA, BFA, MA and MFA in Art. CSUF is located about 30 miles from downtown
Los Angeles in metropolitan Orange County. The department has approximately 1,500
undergraduate art majors including 100 graduate students, 32 full-time faculty and
70 part-time faculty. A full range of fine arts and professional programs is offered,
a 45,000 sq. ft. graduate studio/residence/exhibition facility (Grand Central Art
Center) is located 15 minutes from campus and a nationally recognized art gallery
