Senior GPU Performance Verification Engineer
Description
The Graphics Architecture Team of Visual & Parallel Computing Group (VPG) is responsible for the architecture definition of current and future processor graphics engines for PC and mobile platforms. In this position you will be responsible for developing architecture tools / BKMs to aid performance and power analysis & debug of graphics processors. You will be working closely with pre- and post-silicon validation teams as well as hardware & software engineers to ensure projects meet their design targets with the help of effective analysis & debug tools and BKMs.
An ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience of performance modeling, verification or RTL design experience. The candidate should also have demonstrated the ability to do software development in multiple programming languages and in multiple operating systems, and should be able to utilize existing patterns and libraries to implement the solutions with minimal need to reinvent existing systems.
Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Identify opportunities for productivity improvement to support architecture activities through tools and BKMs
- Design and develop tool infrastructure to accelerate analysis and validation of future graphics processor design
- Demonstrate the effectiveness of developed tools by generating and publishing data, contributing to discovery of new opportunities in improving hardware and software designs
- Understand the inner workings of graphics architecture and workloads, and relate that knowledge covering CPU, graphics, and platform subsystems to our partners in CPU and driver teams to assist them in creating compelling platform level analysis tools
Ensures platform and its components have the best performance and power balance specifically focusing on graphics hardware components. Research and development of next generation platform designs to continually improve the performance. Conducts system analysis on proprietary and competition platforms, develops advanced hardware tuning and overclocking.
Minimum Qualifications:
Candidate must have a Bachelor's degree with 4 years' experience, a Master's degree with 3 years' experience, or a Ph.D. Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering. Experience should be in the following areas:
- Strong scripting language programming abilities
- Good software development practices
- Experience with relational databases
- Demonstrable proficiency in basic computer architecture concepts such as pipelining, virtual memory and caches
- Familiarity with UNIX command-line tools
- Strong debugging skills
- Strong communication skills
