Tenure-Track
The Art Department at California State University,
Fullerton is seeking a full-time, tenure track Assistant or Associate Professor
of Graphic Design beginning in the fall of 2015.
Position
The candidate will be qualified
to teach BFA, MA and MFA level courses that explore graphic design
principles in relationship to traditional
and emerging digital media. Courses range from
graphic design foundations, package design, interactive media and motion
graphics. The successful candidate will oversee student advising; mentoring of
graduate students and thesis; serve on departmental, college, outreach and
university committees.
Required Qualifications
- MFA degree from an
accredited institution with an emphasis in Graphic Design, Visual
Communication, Communication Design, or equivalent.
- Excellent technical skills
(within the most current Macintosh operating system) to instruct students
in the use of Adobe Creative Cloud as well as an advanced understanding of
web publishing and scripting, user interface design, and integrated 3D
design in relationship to graphic design.
- A strong commitment to
teaching and a willingness to take an active role in advancing the
curriculum within the Graphic Design Area.
- An understanding of
contemporary theoretical and historical concepts in art and design, and
the ability to encourage critical thinking and problem solving.
- Experience as a practicing
graphic designer with an established reputation and a significant record
of creative and/or scholarly achievement.
- The ability to work with a
wide range of culturally diverse students, faculty, and staff.
Desired Qualifications
College level teaching experience
is desired.
Rank and Salary
This is a tenure-track position
at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. Salary is competitive and
commensurate to rank, experience, and qualifications. Periodic salary
adjustments are enacted by the state legislature. An excellent comprehensive

The Department
The Department is accredited by
the National Association of Schools of Art and Design to offer the BA, BFA, MA
and MFA in Art. CSUF is located about 30 miles from downtown Los Angeles in
metropolitan Orange County. The department has approximately 1,500
undergraduate art majors including 100 graduate students, 32 full-time faculty
and 70 part-time faculty. A full range of fine arts and professional programs
is offered, a 45,000 sq. ft. graduate studio/residence/exhibition facility
(Grand Central Art Center) is located 15 minutes from campus and a nationally
recognized art gallery is located in the visual arts complex. For more
