Junior Media Systems Engineer
Description
The Jr. Media Systems Engineers is responsible for the support of media systems and infrastructure within the production studio, including installation, and front line technical support to end users and other technical and production staff. This is an entry level position and the applicant will be trained in how to technically support a production studio.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Collaborate with production staff to meet production standards and implement a solution to ensure efficient productivity.
Install and document media productions systems to support animation production and digital reviews including signal flow and digital format infrastructure.
Preparation of user and engineering documentation.
Technical support and maintenance for all Media Systems and A/V infrastructure, including non-linear edit systems (AVID and Adobe Premiere), Digital review workstations, projection systems, Video conference rooms.
Work with production staff on best practices for color critical viewing
Calibrate and configure desktop monitoring for color critical viewing
Work closely with staff to ensure seamless delivery of media presentation and videoconferencing session.
Instruct production staff on proper operation and procedures of media systems, including edit systems, digital review rooms and video conferencing rooms.
Desired Skills
Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience as a media systems support with in a production facility.
Experience with supporting at least one edit systems including Avid Media Composer, Final Cut Studio and Adobe Premiere.
Experience operating, supporting, and troubleshooting professional video/audio equipment.
Intermediate understanding of Digital video, frame rates, Codec and processing.
Basic experienced with audio post production techniques and equipment (mixing, digital audio workstations, speaker systems, AES digital signals, audio file formats).
Basic knowledge with MAC, Windows and Linux Operating Systems, including workstation builds and maintenance.
Basic experience with networking configuration and practices.
Basic experience with studio production facility wiring and documentation practices.
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to compose accurate and thorough documentation in both English and Chinese.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering preferred.
Optional Skills
Experience support projection systems in both corporate A/V and color critical environments.
Thorough understanding of rs232 and rs422 serial communication protocols
Thorough understanding of timecode and other synchronization methods.
Familiarity with color science principles regarding display color reproduction and calibration a plus.
Experience with A/V control system, Crestron or AMX.
