The Lead Programmer is responsible for an individual project in close relationship with the studio manager, studio technical director, and producer, ensuring projects are delivered on time while targeting the best experience and quality. As part of a growing team, your mission will be to drive and participate in the development of 3D and 2D projects on multiple platforms.
The Lead Programmer, under direction of the Technical Director, will be responsible for being hands on with issues, understanding the technology, and leading teams by example. Our Lead Programmer will sit with the programmers to fix the bugs when they get stuck, re-write some code when it’s going the wrong direction, give directions to the team after experiences on the project, give the direction for an architecture/tech direction and lead the team to follow it. This position will also contribute to planning with our Producer, working carefully to reduce or eliminate potential crunch time.
The right candidate for this role must have a senior-level technical and game development background. Essential skill requirements for this position include:
- Degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science
- 4-8 years xp in game programming with experience in graphics (focus on OpenGL)
- 2+ years’ recent xp in the video game industry on console or mobile games.
- Advanced xp in core engine development, networking, mobile development and tool development
- Recent experience in C/C++
- Experience managing teams of 5+ programmers
- Knowledge of the technical pipeline and all the process needed to make a game
- Evolving leadership and team management skills
- Excellent communication - active listening skills, accessible verbal and written presentation
- Able to work independently and under pressure and produce results under sometimes tight schedules
- Able to optimize code size and speed to take full advantage of the capabilities of each platform
- Methodical and structured programming technique
- Comfortable in an Agile development environment
- Keen personal interest in video games with a solid knowledge of the field
The interview process for this role will be: a screening interview, a technical interview with our World Technical Director and a half-day of onsite cross-disciplinary interviews with meeting the team.
