Pipeline Engineer

The Lucasfilm Advanced Development Group (ADG) is looking for a Senior Pipeline Engineer to join our team.

ADG develops tools and techniques for high-quality computer graphics and simulation. Our goal is to expand and enhance the process of creative storytelling in the Star Wars universe through real-time rendering of visuals that approach motion picture quality.
As a pipeline engineer with ADG you will have a key role assisting with the design and development of the software and processes with which content creators move their work between tools, both off the shelf and custom. Your code development will have a direct impact on the day to day efficiency of our team, and ultimately the quality of everything we produce.

Responsibilities
• Assist in the Design and develop and support our new production pipeline
• Work with artists and designers to ensure requirements are well defined and met.
• Continuously improve the user experience and performance of our pipeline.
• Applies principles of computer science, engineering and mathematics to maintain and troubleshoot new and existing software and systems.
• Collaborate with other engineers to form a highly productive team.

Required Skills
• Strong knowledge of Python/C/C++ and at least one scripting language
• Experience in assisting with architecting and designing pipelines for both off-the-shelf and custom packages.
• History of getting Tool A to efficiently communicate with Tool B through whatever means necessary.
• Self-motivated individual with excellent problem solving skills
• Strong architectural skills; experienced with building and maintaining large codebases

Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Scientific discipline, advanced degree preferred
• 4 -6 years of overall experience with a minimum of 2 years experience coding in the role of Pipeline Engineer
• Experience of developing for both Windows and Linux
• Experience with DCC tools such as Maya/Max and their APIs
• Experience of version control systems for assets.
• Experience of web development.
