Description
Summary:
The goals of the User Researcher is to support and
enable developers vision and to empower developers with insights about how
their games are received by target audiences. Iterative tests allow developers
to adjust the design of their games, while in development, which eliminates bad
surprises, reduces delivery time and reduces production costs.
This position is a 3 month contract.
Responsibilities:
· Manage user testing (usability, playtesting,
etc.) for multiple titles concurrently
· Alongside other User Researchers, develop and manage
a Competitive Benchmark program with the goal of evaluating games currently in
the market, contributing to the growth of a competitive benchmark library
· Develop and manage a Playtest Moderator program
with the goal of increasing the sample size of major milestone playtests and
contributing to the growth of a competitive benchmark library
· Develop, Evaluate and implement new processes
and tools as the need arises
· Ability to deliver results, sometimes critical,
in a manner that translates into meaningful changes to the product
· Effectively communicate methodologies and
results with key game-development players across the company
· Maintain best practices by staying current in
the industry
Requirements:
· 3+ years’ experience in games user research
creating test plans, moderating user tests, analyzing data, and writing reports
·Graduate degree pertaining to human-computer
interaction, psychology, or user research preferred, but undergrad in the above
with applicable experience acceptable as well
·Demonstrated ability to bring products and
services to market quickly and make appropriate cost/user experience trade-offs
- Familiar with game design theory and
development process for video games.
- Knowledge of research design,
qualitative, and quantitative methodologies.
· Excellent written and verbal communication
skills
· Ability to work independently with minimal
supervision
· Passion for videogames
Desired skills:
· Working knowledge of Tableau or similar BI tools
· Excellent organizational, analytical, and
presentational skills.
· Statistical experience and data modeling
desired, but not required
· Familiarity with usability testing tools such as
Tobii Eye Tracker, Ovo Studios, etc.
