Combine your 2D/3D GIS knowledge with your
ability for crafting animations, demonstrations, and geographical
stories to help implement both presentation and animated symbol
capabilities within ArcGIS for Desktop.
You’ll
be on the Map Exploration Team, which is part of the core desktop team
and focuses on how users interact with both 2D and 3D GIS content. This
includes simple things such as selection, measure, bookmarks, and
navigation, but also extends to more complex features including
navigating through time, synchronizing multiple views together,
authoring presentations, exporting videos, and so on.
We
are currently working on our next major release of ArcGIS for Desktop
and are open to incorporating many innovative ideas into the core

Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with development programmers on software project teams to build innovative new functionality
- Build and maintain test scenarios that validate use-cases and capabilities
- Learn existing product technologies and troubleshoot production issues in current and past software versions
- Test and document recommended workflows for others to follow
- Research
and analyze customer requests, industry standards, and specifications
to establish and define requirements and translate them into new
software designs
- Bachelor’s in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field, depending on position level
- Demonstrable experience developing both 2D and 3D map content
- Demonstrable experience creating animations and/or presentations, particularly for stories with a geographical component
- Experience with the software development process using an application development language (such as C++, Java, C#)
- Analytical problem solving ability
- Good organizational skills and an ability to multitask and collaborate with others
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Recommended Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of 3D interchange file formats such as KML, DAE, SKP, OBJ and FLT
- Ability to approach problems in innovative ways
- Familiarity with Esri ArcGIS products and online services or other GIS products
