Senior Java Engineer

Description

Every group of programmers needs a responsible, Java-speaking adult to look after them and make sure that things don’t get out of hand. When the time comes to put stuff out there in the real world, where any yahoo with a web browser will bang on it, that’s when they turn to you: champion of the web, knight of the internet, soldier on the front lines of the information war.

 

HERE’S WHY YOU’RE AWESOME:

  • You know the web. You’ve hooked up a servlet container to your toaster oven and you can make a mean enchilada with a single POST request. Your Slashdot user id is in the single digits. You still bring out your copy of Mosaic from time to time just to show the kids how things used to be.
  • You’re a programming wizard. You dream in Java, write sonnets about your favorite data structure, and sing songs in bytecode. You throw away cooking recipes that don’t complete in linear time.
  • You fix what’s broke, and you don’t broke what’s fixed. Your favorite moment of 2013 was when you found a memory corruption bug. You get crash reports texted to your phone. You spend your weekends reading other peoples’ checkin comments.
  • You never stopped going to school. Your home library resembles an underground bunker. Your New Year’s resolution was to learn a new programming language every month. Your list of side projects reads like a game studio’s back catalog.
  • You play well with others. You know there’s a ‘me’ in team--but it’s backwards. Hogging the limelight gives you a sunburn. You know the favorite color of everyone on your team and you bake special cookies for that level designer with a peanut allergy.
